Flying in the Wind - Venice Beach 2004

While riding my bike along Venice Beach on a sunny afternoon, I noticed three people climbing the dunes to take in the ocean view. The Santa Ana winds were strong that day, whipping up waves and swirling sand into the air.

At the top of the dune, they stretched their arms out as if flying, leaning back against the force of the wind. The scene was pure magic—the freedom and joy of youth, infectious and uplifting, like laughter carried on the breeze.

Captured with my Mamiya 7 medium format rangefinder using Kodak 400NC film, this image celebrates the simple pleasures of friendship, connection, and the beauty of being fully present in the moment.
