SUMMER WAVES - Venice Beach 2003

While biking along the Venice Beach boardwalk, I was drawn to the huge waves crashing against the shore. I stopped to take it in and noticed kids laughing as they ran in and out of the surf, letting the waves toss them around in pure delight.

This image captures the energy and joy of that sunny afternoon—the freedom and happiness the ocean brings to everyone who embraces it. Shot with my Mamiya 7 medium format rangefinder on Kodak 400NC film, it’s a tribute to the simple pleasures of friendship, our connection to nature, and the beauty of being present in the moment.
