Barcelona Rooftops – Spain, 1996

In 1996, I traveled to Spain to visit a friend and explore the world through my camera. My plan was to drive from Barcelona up the Mediterranean coast into France, but one particular moment in Barcelona stayed with me.

I was staying in a small fourth-floor walk-up in downtown Barcelona, with a tiny window in the living room that overlooked the city’s rooftops. The view was pure nostalgia—an old-school European scene of laundry drying in the Mediterranean breeze under the midday light.

This image was captured with my Hasselblad Classic 500cm and an 80mm lens, using rare AGFA Scala B&W reversal film, known for its rich tonal range. It evokes the timeless charm and traditional provincial lifestyle of Europe—a moment I’ll always treasure.
