In 2005, Teen People commissioned me to photograph Avril Lavigne for their cover, fresh off her number-one hit, Complicated. I vividly remember her spunk and sense of humor in front of the camera. This image, shot on 8x10 large format black-and-white film, captures a quieter, more introspective moment from our session that really resonated with me.
