Studio Archived Prints
16x20 Portfolio Print on Giclée Hahnemühle Matt Fine Art Paper
Assigned by SPIN magazine, this was one of my first shoots in my Abbot Kinney studio, a space originally designed by Enrique Martínez Celaya for painting, with soft, natural light streaming through skylights. It felt like stepping into an Irving Penn-inspired dream.
Adrian Brody arrived to promote The Pianist (his 2003 Oscar-winning role). Rain that day softened the already beautiful light, creating the perfect atmosphere. Shooting with my 4x5 camera and Type 55 Polaroid film, I captured frames that came alive with every peel—each print an instant work of art.
Adrian’s understanding of photography was innate, shaped by his mother, Sylvia Plachy, whose work I had long admired. Her images, which filled the magazines I studied early in my career, made Adrian no stranger to the medium. His ease with movement and self-awareness made the shoot seamless. And that Kangol hat? It completed the magic.
Please note that these are Studio Archived prints in near-perfect condition. They were originally created as part of a presentation portfolio or for special events. These prints are signed but not editioned.
